Erik did get to watch the game on TV in his hospital room.
Jack and I went to spend the day with him today. Our visit was shorter than anticipated for a few reasons, starting with Steroids.
He's a little, ummmm, crabby to say the least. He did get to start eating real food yesterday and has stopped claiming that people are lying to him. He denies saying any of this which is all the more entertaining to me.
When we got there he was visibly in pain and said he asked for more pain meds almost an hour prior. As you can imagine I handled it in a manner that (1) resulted in an immediate administration of drugs and (2) ensured that it would not happen again. However, once he got all doped up he was sort of zombie like and zoned out. I think it was kind of freaking out Jack so I suggested that we go out for an early quiet dinner date. It was the first time we got to sit alone and just talk all week. I got caught up on all of the high school gossip so that was cool.
After seeing Erik today I figured he would be in the hospital until at least Wednesday. He just called to tell me that he will probably go home tomorrow. I have no idea if he is making this up or not but he threw out some medical terms and conditions that he claims the doctor told him so it sounds legit. I'm a little nervous but at least at home he can avoid hospital germs and noise and loud people and sleep distractions.
I'm heading up there tomorrow after Jack goes to school so I'll get the real scoop. Part of me thinks they might actually send him home and part of me thinks he is just going to resurrect his conspiracy theory lying violation list and then pop another pain pill.
