Work friends
Real life friends
Baseball mom friends
Band mom friends
Too many sports to count mom friends
You get the picture.
I never had a category for someone I barely met one time for 5 minutes a few years ago.
But I do now.
Melissa is the wife of my co-worker and work friend, Don. Don shared Erik's situation with Melissa and I started getting sweet notes of concern and good wishes. Now remember I met her one time for 5 minutes a few years ago.
This week Melissa sent our family a gift box and inside was an adorable basket filled with all kinds of goodies. Homemade treats. I am currently out of town in a hotel eating the popcorn for dinner. Jack is a connoisseur of carmel corn and deemed it to be fabulous. Stephanie declared the brownies the best she ever had. I hid the bread in the freezer so the boys wouldn't eat it all while I was gone. We all agreed this was kind, thoughtful and just what we needed this week.
I'm not complaining or looking for any sympathy because what I'm about to say may or may not have anything to do with dialysis and kidney failure BUT some days it feels overwhelming to just brush my hair and here is Melissa sealing every popcorn baggie with a cute little ribbon and individually wrapping all the brownies. Seriously.
So no more will I have friend categories. Friends are just friends, no matter where you met them or how you met them or even if you really never talked to them in real life.
Speaking of friends….John's final invasive donor evaluation is September 23rd. I've planned on hearing nothing further until the end of October. I'm working on managing my expectations. If there are any goodies left when I get home tomorrow I should probably take some to John. I would consider claiming that I tied the popcorn with a cute little bow all by myself but he will take one look at my messy pony tail and know that I'm making it up.
Hopefully I will have some type of update to share in the next few weeks.
I think you have fabulous hair and I love brownies. Uh, I mean, I'd be happy to pass the brownie along to John! I'm so glad you're in all of my friend categories.
