the maddie james foundation

If you have been following the story about Maddie James (I went to High School with her mom) then you will be happy to learn that The Maddie James Foundation reached a goal of 1 Million Dollars last night and will be able to build The Maddie James Seaside Learning Center at the Ocean Institute in Dana Point, CA.  Click the little turtle on the right to read her story.  Sadly, Maddie lost her battle with DIPG only 8 weeks after her diagnosis but her foundation was able to reach the goal in under 4 months.  Last night they reached $920,000 at the Reaching for the Sea Stars Gala and the St. Regis Resort and Hotel donated the remaining $80,000.  They reached the goal in advance of the June 11th deadline, which would have been Maddie's 6th birthday.
