Maddie James

Maddie is 5.  Excuse me.  5 and 1/2.  I went to high school with her mom.  She was recently diagnosed with a non operable aggressive brain tumor (DIPG).  Her parents have started a foundation, in her name, with a focus on the Dana Point Ocean Institute.  The foundation is seeking to create the "Maddie James Seaside Learning Center" at the institute.  

Maddie reminds me of Stephanie when she was little...from the white blonde hair to her love of all sea creatures and undersea life.  (Yes, Jack is still a bit concerned that Stephanie thinks mermaids are real).  Stephanie even attended the summer camp at the Dana Point Ocean Institute when she was 5, too.  Now she is Marine Biology major (among other majors and minors that change weekly).  We have been looking for some type of charitable foundation to get involved in as a family.  We found it.
